Cambarre or Ube, also known as purple yam (often Dioscorea alata), is a purple-fleshed tuber highly prized in Asia (particularly the Philippines), Africa, the Caribbean, and in certain spiritual practices. It is often confused with the purple sweet potato, but they are two different plants.
