Vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanioides) is well known for its fragrance and roots.
On Reunion Island, vetiver crops occupied a large area of southern farmland.
Its cultivation was essential for the design of houses (thatched roofs and straw kaz) and outbuildings.

GROUNDING: Vetiver is renowned for its incredible root system. Symbolically, it is associated with grounding, stability, and inner security. It helps reconnect with the earth and find a sense of peace and stability.
PROTECTION: In some folk beliefs, burning a little vetiver or wearing it can ward off the evil eye or jealousy.
PURIFICATION: In Hinduism, it is used to purify water for puja (rituals). It is placed in kalasham pots (sacred pots filled with water) to bless places or people.

According to the ancients, purification in seawater offers spiritual protection and energetic cleansing, allowing one to begin anew.
